Beginning on the Right Track

The dark winter nights are truly here now and keeping fit can be a challenge.
For me, even walking the dog before work is demoralising. However, having a positive mental outlook needn't be difficult and will help you immensely.
Creating a solid routine will help you immensely. The main issue is to make it realistic, even if it's just two training sessions a week and eating better.
The more you can create a consistent routine, where you constantly exceed expectations, the better.
Setting the bar too high will result in failure.
Secondly, monitor your progress. If it isn't working, review and adapt. Having a fitness professional to consult will speed up this process. Knowledge is definitely power and a fitness pro who has worked with someone at your fitness level is invaluable.
Next, having a calorie deficit will aid with weight loss (if that is your goal). We are only looking at around a 15% deficit. Going too far is not healthy and will stifle your progress. I find that my nutrition at work is consistent, as I buy my food in advance and keep it in my car therefore I can't deviate.
Finally, check out my earlier blogs for basic fitness success. The medium website is fully searchable and you'll find hundreds of my earlier blogs with hints like drinking two litres of water plus every single day. This helps with basic bodily function and muscle retention.
