How to Lose Weight without Lifting a Weight: App’s

  • Simple changes, maximum effect
  • Learn the real secrets of fitness

My main goal with RYPT was to create fitness that is sustainable, in moderation, enjoyable and also helps improve lives via education without taking short cuts!

Enlightening the actual truth about fitness is far more powerful than copying what other people do and hoping it works: understanding is the real deal breaker.

Lesson 5: Free Apps

In the world that we live in, it has never been more accessible to find what we need. However, actually taking action is another ball game!

There are numerous apps out there to assist with weight loss as improve lifestyle. If getting active is your primary concern, then downloading a good pedometer is the first step. As mentioned in the previous blog (about starting fitness) you need to know where you are starting from: regardless of how shocking the results may be.

Chart your progress and remember the aim is gradually to push for 10,000 steps. This first milestone will certainly supplement any other changes and can be the most challenging. Make it enjoyable and why not listen to a podcast at the same time?

Podcasts

The main free app for podcasts should be found in your App Store and is easy to use.

If you’re looking for something to listen to as you walk / exercise then the Ben Coomber podcast is definitely worth a shout. A well educated and no-nonsense PT / nutrition coach who has the same ethos of RYPT; learn and become self sufficient!

There are numerous podcasts available in the field of health and fitness: some great, some just ramblings but you’ll find your favourites and remember to mix it up with other subjects too!

Relaxation:

Struggle to unwind after a busy day? Not to fear, there are plenty apps to assist with sleeping.

Headspace and Breathe are the two apps that I have on my phone for relaxation.

I don’t know much about meditation or even claim to but I know these apps help me sleep ten times better.

Short, targeted sessions are ideal for those of us who are “too busy” to take time for ourselves.

They’re free so no harm in giving them a bash.

Finally…photos

Easiest and best way to keep motivated is to SEE the change. I recommend taking periodic progress pictures. Afterall, we are our biggest critic so seeing results helps motivation. Ideally at the same time of day every two weeks is more than enough.

In the form a collage you should see the progress over time and it will prevent the desire to give up on your changes. The scales don’t always tell the whole story, sometimes body shape changes faster.

Remember muscle weighs more than fat but is far more compact, hence the improvement in physique over time.

Above all, these should be steady, sustainable, enjoyable and moderated changes – the ethos of RYPT.

Remember, RYPT is about sustainability, moderation and enjoyment! There are no fads or shortcuts, just facts.
