Motivation Monday: Time
- 5 things better than coffee
- New ideas for the office worker
How often do you feel fatigued whilst working the 9–5? Or worse, how many lulls in energy do you get, yet can’t sleep at night? This series is aimed at helping you.
Lesson 8: Time
Finding time to do anything through the week can be stressful. Before you ask, I am qualified to say that due to a history of working extremely long weeks.
Monday to Friday can be chaos and simply disappear before you know it. For me, I’m out the house before 9 and lucky to return before 9 at night (taking the gym into consideration). As a consequence, meal planning and even preparation is difficult.
The urge to eat ready made food is always there especially when I’m hungry after a long day and just want to munch
So if you’re in a similar position, how do you ensure that you stay on track with your fitness?
To be honest, without seeing your nutritional plan, it’s difficult to opine. However, more often that not it comes down to preparing your meals and having them there.
My biggest regret with fitness is not making more time to prepare my meals. If you have a day off, then food can be cooked and frozen or even meals planned out in advance so the ingredients are there.
When it comes to the physical side of getting fit, there is no other way to say it but you just need to prioritise. Sometimes that hard to hear because we all have commitments and things to do. On the other hand, I bet if you tallied up your television watching hours per week, you could sacrifice a couple to walking, running or even a couple of gym visits.
I am a firm believer that your body is a physical reflection of your mind and your attitude towards your health. If you make time you will get fitter: it really is that simple.
Watching television or finding other things to occupy your time are needed to create balance but ultimately health and happiness come from keeping active. Exercise is the best antidepressant and you will soon see why.
If it’s needed then map out your week. Write down an hour by hour account of what you are doing. I guarantee that you will find time when you are alert to what you are doing. However, many of us simply cruise through life and wonder where the time goes.
