RYPT Mindset Corner: Happiness

  • How to succeed in your fitness goals
  • When to change your training plan

Mindset is as important as the physical training when it comes to fitness. Not only that but it’s even easier to adapt and make a healthy lifestyle more achievable.

This week: Happiness

Happiness is one of the key elements when it comes to fitness. Whether it is finding healthy food that you enjoy, improving the quality of your workouts or even just getting in the mindset to go to the gym, it all plays a role.

If you have read my blogs over the years, then you will notice that psychology plays a vital role. The body will only go where mind tells it to. If you are not content then you will not excel at any aspect of wellbeing.

Similarly, should you enjoy your workouts then it will not be a chore and the results will follow in due course. There are workout routines that I prefer and it is generally through following these routines that I get better results.

Getting fit can be as much of a challenge mentally as it is physically, therefore harnessing any possible advantage that you can will help.

If you can create positive association with the gym then you are on to a winner. Should the gym be a place that you enjoy going whether that is swimming, spin classes, running, weights or what ever then having a positive mental association makes it far easier to summon the energy to go.

On the contrary, if you dread working out or have a negative perception then you it’s easy to find reasons not to go for that training session.

Having said that, once you get a taste for fitness, your tolerance of less enjoyable sessions will increase. For example, it can be difficult to go running in the heavy rain but if you enjoy the outcome (for example the feeling or the result) then it’s easier to get through the session.

Find the things that may you happy and use them to drive you on the way to getting results. It’s a simple idea but it’s tried and tested.
