RYPT Training: Free February Home Workout

RYPT Express Workout

Working late and having numerous commitments can make getting to the gym difficult so here’s a free workout to try sponsored by the RYPT 24/7 Fit App.

Good news is that there is no equipment required at all.

It can be tailored to your fitness levels so don’t go too full on if you haven’t trained for a while!

The aim of this routine is to complete as many rounds of the exercises as possible in five minutes.

If you’re feeling ambitious, then you can repeat this circuit up to 5 times.

My advice would be to pace yourself as the goal is to last the initial first five minutes then continue from there.

Circuit One:

14 High knee sprints (on each side. So running on the spot)

12 squats (advanced option is squat jump)

8 Press ups (on knees is easier option or can be advanced by hands closer together)

6 standing lunges (on each side. Use a wall for support if needed. Advanced option is plyometric / jumping lunges)

4 burpees (optional or change for side lunges on each side)

(Rest and repeat)

Regulate the intensity of the first round and then you can progress from there.

There are two different ways of performing this workout:

1) Time intense: as many rounds as possible in a set time. In this case I would recommend 5 minute blocks for maximal intensity.

2) Against the clock: how long does a set take? Then try to beat it on the following set.

There are many ways to make fitness fun and as a fitness professional, it’s vital that you enjoy the workouts and exercises you struggle with are either regressed or removed. I’ve seen trainers making clients do exercises that they are simply not fit enough to do and this is completely unprofessional. At the end of the day, clients need advice / help and not an arbitrary plan.

As a disclaimer, I steer clear of burpees as people generally hate them. I’ll always give a substitute and rarely use them in a one to one coaching session or in a personalised plan. Similarly with lunges, mobility can be an issue so it’s always heavily monitored.

Accountability is really the only way to monitor and achieve weight loss as it can be easy to hide the extent of your eating habits. Begin with minor changes and the reduction in calories will help but it’s all about balance.

RYPT offers full support through nutritional guidance and training plans (all accessible and provided with a free consultation). Whatever your end goal; RYPT can help you reach it with sustainability, moderation and enjoyment.
