The Home Training Myth

  • Overcome obstacles
  • Challenge your outlook

Well it's not every week that I write such an emotional blog. However after being a member for over three years, my local gym has closed.

I'm not a particularly big advocate of large commercial gyms but this one was special for me. Don't worry I won't eat about the lack of government support.

It's crazy to think that my last ever session there was on Friday 20th march before lockdown began. Not only that but I shoulder pressed the heaviest I've lifted at 45kg dumbbells and took it for granted.

The ironic thing is that with my home workouts I've been told I'm looking bulkier. In actual fact, I'm heavier and stronger than ever but that is probably due to the fact I've been able to focus more on nutrition.

I've been able to train seven days a week with a more methodical routine. This has undoubtedly helped me achieve my fitness goals. If you are trying to change your fitness levels then you need to do more than what you have previously achieved.

This may sound simple but you should be looking to push yourself further in every regard. For some people this is easier than others.

A tailored approach is vital in order to achieve your goals. If I didn't have such a bank of exercises and training styles then I wouldn't have been able to make it through the last four months and still keep progressing.

It had been tough but the dedication has proven to me that you can overcome obstacles.

Another thing I've noticed is how expensive gym equipment is. As great as resistance bands and TRXs are, I'm looking for more variety.

If you're at a beginner or intermediate fitness level, then the RYPT home workout plan will get you results without the expense and I'll vouch for that!

Unsurprisingly, the film of the week is Groundhog Day. It's depressingly more funny when your life feels like that. On the plus side, investment in your health means that you look and feel better. It's one of a handful of things that has a long term payoff.

Enjoyment is undoubtedly the most important aspect and it's a pillar of RYPT.

The RYPT beginner's home workout plan is scheduled on the RYPT Facebook page, LinkedIn and is available with a day by day plan by contacting me directly.
